We will start our topic by reading Jack and the Beanstalk. We will look at the characters in the story and recreate our own versions! We will be continuing to work on ELG statements for writing so we will have lots of opportunities to write independently, read and write tricky words and begin to use conjunctions (because, and, so). As we will be planting seeds we will also write some instructions about how we did it.
Foundation Summer 1 Curriculum Topics
We will be continuing applying our phonics to reading to enable us to read sentences independently. Please continue to practise your tricky word sheets to make sure that you can read the words and apply them into your reading. I have noticed from reading records that lots of children are practising their reading and key words EVERY NIGHT! well done and keep it up for the final term!
Our focus in number will be securing addition and subtraction to 20 either using resources or a number line. We will also look again at doubling, halving and sharing to make sure that we can do this confidently.
How do plants grow?
shape, space and measure
We will work again on recognising and telling the time to o'clock and half past, measuring and weighing and using jugs to measure capacity. We will also be working hard to secure naming and describing 2d and 3d shapes.
In topic we will be looking at parts of a plant, planting seeds and looking at how to take care of plants and what they need to grow. We will consider how plants will change over time. We will also start to name plants and differentiate between plants and trees. We will also have a go at sketching plants.
Please be aware that the days for PE next half term have changed. PE will be on Mondays (with Faye the gymnastics coach) and Friday mornings where possible. They will also have an opportunity to partake in balancability sessions with Mrs Wright and Mrs Brailsford on Friday afternoons.
