English
In English, we will be using The Iron Man by Ted Hughes as a stimulus to engage us in our writing. We will use this story to create imaginative, descriptive writing, interesting instructions, eye-catching newspaper reports and persuasive writing. Across all areas of writing we will continue to focus on grammar, punctuation and spelling. We will be focusing on improving our work through using a thesaurus and practicing spelling key topic words.

Maths
In maths we will focusing on the following units:
-Division
- Fractions
- Measurement (length, volume/capacity, mass)
- Time

Science
In science we will be investigating the following topic:
- How do magnets attract and repel?
- Which materials are magnetic /non magnetic?
- How does the force from a magnet differ on various surfaces?
It's time for a robot rampage!
History and Geography
We will be linking our topic lessons closely with the theme of robots to discover:
- What have different robot been like in the past?
- How are robots evolving/ changing the world we live in?
- Looking at how robots work
- Pitching our own robots in a Y3 Dragon's Den
Art and DT
Y3 will be producing some fantastic art work based on the Iron Man including silhouettes, continuous line drawings and sketches.

We will also be designing and making our own car for the Iron Man as part of Design Technology for DT day.
