The majority of our writing will be linked to our class text: Stig of the Dump. The children will be focusing on analysing the features of different genres to inform their own planning and writing. There will be a greater focus this term on proofreading and improving writing independently and the genres we will be covering include: play writing, non-chronological reports and newspaper reports.
Year_4 Autumn 2 - 2019/2020 Curriculum Topics
The children will begin by consolidating their understanding of number and place value by recapping number lines, estimating and rounding. We will then move on to multiplication and division, with a focus this term on multiplying and dividing by 0, 1, 10 and 100 as well as the 6, 7 and 9 times tables.
Our science topic this term is all about sound. We will be investigating how to make different types of sounds, how sound travels, how we hear sounds and how the pitch and volume of a sound is related to vibration.
Could you rock The Stone Age?
The children will be learning about life during the Stone Age, with an in-depth look at Neolithic human beings, housing, tools, weapons and settlements. This will be knitted together by the development of a strong understanding of chronology and timelines.
