ENGLISH
The majority of our writing will be linked to our class text: Stig of the Dump. The children will be focusing on analysing the features of different genres to inform their own planning and writing. There will be a greater focus this term on proofreading and improving writing independently and the genres we will be covering include: writing a fictional narrative and letter writing.

MATHS
The children will continue to focus on multiplication and division for the first part of this term, looking in more detail at the 11 and 12 times tables before moving on to focus on a variety of methods of multiplication and division. This understanding will then be applied to geometry in calculating the area of 2D shapes, which will be followed by an introduction to fractions.
SCIENCE
Our science topic this term is all about sound. We have already investigated how to make different types of sounds, how sound travels, how we hear sounds and how the pitch and volume of a sound is related to vibration. The children will use this understanding to consider how and why some animals have better hearing than others and they will also invent a noise reducing product.
What was life like during the Bronze and Iron Ages?
HISTORY
The children will be looking at progress and change within the Bronze and Iron Ages, considering how the discovery of new materials, migration and a growing population impacted on people’s lifestyles in Britain. We will continue to develop a strong sense of chronology as well as how to find and use historical sources.
PSHE/RE
PSHE – Taking care of the wider world, safer internet day
RE – The importance of pilgrimages, with a focus on Islam
COMPUTING/PE/FRENCH
Computing – Networks and data handling
PE – Swimming and cognitive skills
French – Revision of hobbies and new vocabulary for animals
ART/DT
We will be investigating the construction of Stone Henge and using clay to create miniature versions of this famous prehistoric landmark.
