We will continue reading Stig of the Dump and using the novel to inform our writing, such as diary entries, narrative writing and poetry! In SPAG, we will be expanding our knowledge of fronted adverbials and apostrophes, and in reading we will focus on answering questions with justifications and evidence.
Year_4 Spring 2 Curriculum Topics
Mathematics
This half term Y4 will be building on our time telling skills and problem solving time and measurement questions. By the end of the term we will be able to tell the time (analogue and digital), compare lengths of time and count in intervals around a clock. We will further explore shape and position whilst also revising our multiplication facts.
Science
In our Science lessons this half term, we will be continuing our investigation into how Sound is made and how it travels. We will be conducting a range of experiments to test speed and volume, and learning about Samuel Morse.
What would it be like to travel back in time?
Topic
As our journey through history continues, this half term we arrive at The Bronze Age! We will be exploring the differences between the various periods of history, understanding how they lived, making Bronze Age treats and investigating Stonehenge and it's mysterious past!
MFL/Music
In French this term, we will continue revising hobbies and sports as well as learning how to talk in further detail about various members of our family.
In Music we will be further exploring the history behind 'We Will Rock You!' it's pattern, rhythm and even rewriting the lyrics with a Bronze Age feel!
PE/RE
In our PE lessons this half term we will be becoming Yoga masters and focusing on our balance and flexibility. With Mrs Wright, we will be working through our 'FUNS' objectives and building on what our bodies are already capable of.
Our learning into Judaism will also continue as we explore Jewish routines, specific beliefs and our relationships with God.
Things to remember...
Our PE days remain as Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure children remove earrings and bring in their own hair bobbles. Our Celebration of Work is on Thursday 21st March 2019. All are welcome. Homework is given out and due in each Friday. If homework is incomplete children will have to complete it in their own time.
Reading mornings are for reading only. Tuesday & Thursday.
