Weather warning of extreme heat 

School closing at 12.30pm tomorrow (Tuesday 19.7.22)  

Dear Parents and Carers, 

Following a risk assessment of the school premises this afternoon and the continued rising temperatures along with the red warning of extreme heat tomorrow, Coit Primary has made the decision to close early.  

School will be closing at 12.30pm tomorrow (Tuesday 19th July) for all pupils due to the red weather warning that has been issued for the region and which remains in place currently. Gates will be open from 12:20pm. Please collect your child from their usual exit / collection point at 12.30pm. Late collections will be from the main office. 

Lunch will be served between 11.30-12.15pm. 

For those pupils who cannot be picked up at this time please be reassured that Mrs Rodrigo will remain with the children until their collection. Please contact the school office to let us know your collection time.

Please continue to send your child in loose clothing like PE kits, with hats, sun cream and water. We will adapt the school morning and will continue to follow all DfE guidance for protecting children against the heat such as playing in shaded areas for a limited time, ensuring re-hydration and using water sprinklers.  

School and its Governors appreciate the potential inconvenience this may cause but we know you understand that all decisions are made in the best interests of the children and staff and we thank you for your support. 

School will resume as normal on Wednesday 20th July 2022.
